"The Fight for
My Life"

I also believe that my faith in God is what will help me succeed in this
field. Knowing, without
question, that this is what He wants me to do will keep me going with
this difficult task. I also
realize that prayer will have to be a priority in my life as I will be
dealing with a lot of difficult issues every day.
Battling depression and burnout could be a problem when working
with this population, but I believe that my strong faith in God will
help me overcome it and that I will be able to have a powerful impact on
so many hurting families and children every day.
Since I am not entering the art world as a fine artist, I will encounter
a number of moral, ethical, and spiritual issues that are different from
those who become sculptors, painters, graphic designers, photographers,
or any type of fine artist. I
will come in contact with a number of life and death issues and my faith
will be challenged when working with dying children.
I will have to evaluate how my faith comes into play when working
with children and families who are facing the possibility of death and
will have to determine how much of my faith I can legally bring into the
workplace. The task is not simple for Christians in either field.
Christian fine artists face the possibility of rejection in a
secular art world, while I face the possibility of rejection in a
secular medical world. As a
Christian, I have an incredible opportunity to influence the lives of
the children and families with whom I will be working, as well as my
co-workers. I discovered
this during my internship and I do not question that my Christian love
and compassion will carry over into my future career.
