Update On Me

January-March 2000

The new millennium started out with me trying to readjust to nutritional support.  Home health care nurses came out every day for several days to teach me how to take care of my PICC line and start the TPN.  I went back to college with this PICC line in and it was very difficult for me to adjust to being in school attached to a pump for 14 hours a day.  By the end of January, my doctor increased my rate so I could get it all in twelve hours. That two hours made a big difference.  I had to be very careful with the PICC line because they get infected very easily.

In February, I started having violent muscle spasms.  I could not control them and they were so bad that I couldn't sleep at night because my entire body would jerk.  They lasted for two weeks, and I went to my doctor and he said they were probably caused by a rare virus and would go away on their own.  I also had a fever for several days.  They did eventually clear up on their own thankfully.

In March I spent most of my time working on my senior show.  I didn't even go home for my spring break!  It was very quiet all week on campus.
