As of Nov. 25, 2001-
My PICC line came out 3"-4" the other night. I woke up at 3:30 am to find it out. I called my home health care agency and they sent me to Hershey Med ER for a chest x-ray. Unfortunately, the x-ray confirmed the fact that my line was out too far. Being a Saturday, radiology was not able to put in a new one. I am supposed to call radiology asap Monday morning to try to get them to squeeze me in. I am using the PICC I have at a slower rate to prevent further damage because I couldn't go without any nutrition or fluids for two days. Unfortunately, this is the last vein I have in my arm, and chances are the line will end up in my neck which is very traumatizing. I'm so upset over this...I babied this line and I can't believe this would happen! It's just another nightmare... |
