"The Fight for My Life 4"

In an attempt to control my nausea, my doctor increased my stomach medication.  Two weeks later I got out of the car to open the garage door for my dad, and I collapsed.  I was in full-cardiac arrest and had no heartbeat or breathing for five minutes and I was unconscious for ten.  Everyone thought I was dead, and that certainly I had suffered brain damage.  Although I was not aware of what was happening around me during my unconscious state, I was experiencing another state of mind, and entered into a dark world with a lot of bright lights and spirits.  I also had a very loud buzzing in my ears, and to this day it scares me to think about it. I never believed in near-death experiences before this time, but now I know something happens to a person's mind when they are close to death that causes them to experience these things.

My parents told me later that after I had been unconscious for seven minutes, they asked me if I could hear them to blink my eyes twice, and I did.  That gave them some hope knowing I was still alive, and they prayed that I would not suffer brain damage. I regained consciousness about the time the paramedics arrived, and I was rushed to the hospital. I was so scared in the ambulance because I didn't know what was happening to me.  My mom rode along in the front of the ambulance to give them my medical history, and my dad and sister followed it in the car.  They were terrified not knowing if I was ok on the trip up there.

After I was checked out in the ER, the cardiologist on call almost sent me home, but one of the head ER doctors didn't feel comfortable with that and admitted me.  It turned out to be a life-saving measure as the next morning I went into cardiac arrest again.  I was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and told the reason for these episodes was my medication and I was taken off of them.  They put me on oxygen, which I didn't like because it dried out my nose.  I felt like pulling it out a few times.  I went home a few days later, but did not stay very long as I was readmitted the day after I got out because of other complications.  Since I was no longer able to take any medication for my stomach, there was only one option remaining.
